Sleep treatment london

This special form of treatment represents a much deeper form of shiatsu massage which has been specifically designed to allow your body to enter a deep state of relaxation where sleep is bound to follow.

Then a unique combination of carefully chosen points are activated to release stagnation in the restricted meridians before balancing your whole system. Which strengthens your ability to switch from activity to rest more easily.

The benefits of these sleep sessions can be felt at the time of treatment, but its benefits will also intensify in the days and weeks after and may include:

  • Increase in physical energy
  • Clearer thoughts
  • Increased memory
  • Easier to fall asleep
  • Able to sleep through the night
  • Easier to get up in the morning
  • A feeling of lightness throughout your body
  • Increase in body awareness

Although this form of treatment was created with insomnia in mind it is recommended to anyone who wants to improve their body’s ability to relax.

A brief history

A small seed of an idea came to my mind about how beneficial shiatsu could be for sleep problems back in 2015. At the time I was working at a yoga retreat many miles from home offering shiatsu massage to yoga students and private guests.

I was starting to notice that many of my patient’s would fall asleep in the middle of their treatment and would later report that their quality of sleep had got a lot better,

Once I returned to London, I set out to test this out on a bigger scale by starting my own research on volunteers with a history of sleep disturbances. The feedback was good at which point I decided to create an mobile sleep service where I would visit my patients in their home shortly before their bedtime to give them the treatment. When it ended, they were encouraged to go straight to bed and I would pack up and make my way to my next patient.

This practice worked well, and in 2018 I went on to create my own static space dedicated to sleep patients as well as doing my nightly rounds. Unfortunately, this service had to stop while health restrictions were put into place due to Covid-19 epidemic.
My shiatsu and sleep service was revived last October with a brand-new clinical home where I currently treat shiatsu massage and shiatsu sleep patients as well as offering home visits to those who need it.

If you are finding it difficult to fall asleep, staying asleep, or you are awake for several hours of the night you may well be feeling the signs of fatigue and difficulty functioning throughout the day.

The quality sleep plays an important role in our overall well-being. Not getting the sleep on a regular basis can have a pretty big impact on mental and physical health.

While a healthy diet and plenty of exercise may help in the early stages, sometimes we find that these things alone will not get us back to the sleep you desperately need.

TCM view of sleep problems

From the point of view of Chinese medicine, sleep problems are mostly
related to as a disturbance of the Spirit which is essential for our mental and physical wellbeing.

Treating the meridians of the Heart, Spleen, Stomach, Liver and Kidneys can work to bring a comfortable balance to these strong energies.

Our blood is made in part from the essence of the food we eat, which is controlled by the Spleen to produce essence, which will be stored in the kidneys.

Blood is stored and soothes the liver which is then transported to nourish the heart with the help of our kidneys Often treatment is aimed to regulate the movement of Qi and restore harmony within the key internal organs (including the Heart) as well as the balance between the cooling and the warming energies (the Yin and Yang) in the body in order to calm the mind and relieve insomnia working directly with the nervous system.

Then a unique combination of acupressure points are activated to release stagnation in the restricted meridians before balancing your whole system and strengthens your ability to switch from activity to rest more easily.

Although this form of treatment was created with insomnia in mind it is recommended to anyone who wants to improve their body’s ability to relax.
